Several years ago, I suffered from mild bouts of depression. Nothing earthshaking, no thoughts of committing suicide but it was frightening. In the beginning, they occurred only once a year, lasted for 4 or 5 days and went away without any medication. But as time went by, they got worse, lasted longer and I started to fear them. There was no reason for it medically or mentally, work and home life was great, no financial worries. I avoided medication on purpose although the temptation to acquire get well pills was sometimes overwhelming. After reading up on depression and different methods of dealing with it, stumbled on EFT by chance and tried it. And hallelujah, it did the trick and in record time as well.Which brings me to the news I got a few days ago from Mark Hyman MD, a doctor from the US who is heavily involved with eating disorders.Have reproduced it down below, including his video link. Have checked it out from different sources on the net and a lot of networks have mentioned this problem. Seems that treating depression with drugs or with a placebo has similar results. I am not qualified to point fingers at the pharmaceuticals and besides, these companies spend a fortune on research and that has to be paid. No argument with that. But it suddenly does not seem so silly to try out alternative ways of overcoming depression. However, read the blog from Dr.Hyman below, or watch the video on his site and check it out for yourselves. Why Antidepressants Don’t Work for Treating Depression

As mentioned last week, did not take the muscle relaxing pills prescribed for the back pain and instead used EFT. I did use the anti inflammation pills faithfully, no point in getting pigheaded and refuse all modern medicine or ask to burn medical doctors at the stake. Am happy to say that all is well again, going back to the gym although avoiding any strenuous exercise involving lower back muscle groups. I believe that tapping several times a day helped a lot. As far as experiments go, this one was nowhere near anything scientific and any physician with a bit of experience will probably explain the quick healing and near absence of pain to other causes. As for myself, am glad that I used common sense and tried an alternative for the pills (With feedback to my doctor, I hasten to say)

Last Monday, went to the gym to charge my batteries up again after the weekend. All went well up till the moment when in the dressing room I wanted to take my shoes off. An excruciating pain in my lower back stopped me in my tracks. Never had anything like it in my life and I always dismissed people who complained about it as sissy’s. Thought they were philandering and trying to get out of work to be done. Okay, hereby my apologies to those people I accused in the past. It is real and the weird part is hat I do not know how it came about. One moment whistling a tune, next one emitting muffled shouts. Had not done anything really strenuous, expected to do that sort of thing in the gym. Anyway, impossible to do any exercise without making it worse so went back home.Went to our doctor and explained what happened and he was a bit unbelieving, thought it happened while going stupid during exercise. Still, he checked it out. Seems that the vertebrae are sort of locked in part of the spine, due to inflammation of the tissue between them.He prescribed two items, one for muscle relaxing, the other for reducing the inflammation. The muscle relaxant needed only half of a pill, or about 25 grams. I asked the doctor about this and he was concerned about the pain and the effect of the muscles tensing and aggravating the condition. Was curious and thought to myself “If these pills are so powerful, why don’t they make them smaller ?” Then read the accompanying spec sheet, inserted in the box, to see what was in the pills and the possible side effects. It will relax muscles but by doing so it will relax more than that. Seems to be habit forming and it is advised to wean yourself of it gradually after taking them for longer than 3 weeks . So, asked the doctor if I could use EFT for the relaxing part and keep the pills as a standby. He was ok with that on condition that I came straight back to him if there was a problem. I will try it out (The pain is not excruciating anyway). Not that I’m completely against all and any pills whatsoever, but if not really necessary, why bother. Will publish how it works without telling fibs.
Warning: Do NOT use EFT for any medical condition without first checking with a doctor !
